Issue:
You may notice that the duration displayed for a content item is incorrect. For example:
- You completed a pathway item, but the item shows an incorrect duration.
- You added an item to Degreed with a specific duration, but after saving, the duration displayed differently.
- Degreed automatically populated a duration that does not match the expected completion time.
Cause:
Content duration can come from different sources depending on how the item was added and the type of content.
For some items, Degreed may use information from the content URL, such as page metadata, article length, estimated reading time, or provider/source data. In other cases, the duration may come from default duration settings, manually entered values, or existing catalog metadata.
Because of this, the duration shown in Degreed may not always match the expected time to complete the item.
Resolution:
If you have permission to manage catalog content, you may be able to update the item’s duration in Manage Catalog.
To check whether the duration can be edited:
- Go to Manage > Manage Catalog.
- Search for the content item.
- Select the Edit option for the item.
- Review the Hours and Minutes fields.
- Update the duration, if the fields are editable.
- Save your changes.
If the duration fields are not editable, or if the duration changes again after saving, report the issue to Degreed Support.
To report the issue from the content card:
- Open the content item in Degreed.
- Select the More actions menu on the content card.
- Select Report a Problem.
- Choose the option that best describes the issue.
- Submit the report.
You can also Submit a Ticket to Degreed Technical Support. Include the content title, URL, the current duration shown in Degreed, and the expected duration.
Additional information
Some content durations can be edited by users with the correct catalog permissions. Other durations may need to be reviewed by Degreed Support, especially when the value is controlled by metadata, provider data, or system-generated estimates.
