Issue:
When I try to search Degreed, the terms I'm using are being autocorrected to something else. The system then shows 'Searched instead for' and the autocorrected words.
Example: I typed "chatgpt" into the search bar. After hitting Enter, the search results page shows that it 'Searched instead for catgut'
Cause:
For one-word searches, if the search term does not match any results, the system will autocorrect it and perform the search on the corrected term.
If you enter a search term the system cannot match with autocorrection or by suggesting a related term, no results are returned and you are prompted to enter a different term.
In the example above, the organization did not have any content with the word "chatgpt". The system tried to autocorrect it. You can see the system advising:
'Searched instead for catgut
We didn't find any results for chatgpt'
After the autocorrect feature kicked in, it still could not find any results. This is advised by the warning message:
"Sorry!
We didn’t find any results for "catgut"
Check your spelling or try a different search term."
Resolution:
This is working as expected. For more information, please check the article Understanding Search.
