The Content File Template

Use the Content File template to add multiple content items to your Internal Catalog in bulk. You can tag content items with Skills and assign content to Groups.

At least one of the file upload permissions is required to view the File Upload pages in Degreed. Additional permissions are required to upload specific file types. See File Upload Permissions for more information.

Field Definitions

ContentID	Yes	255	The unique ID, as set by your organization, for the content item. This field is required for Books to be added to your Internal Catalog. This field is required for all content items in order to accurately identify the content in all subsequent template processing. IMPORTANT INFORMATION This field is used to identify content in all subsequent template uploads (i.e. Required Learning, Completions, etc.). Once a ContentID is created, do not change it during subsequent uploads. If you modify the ContentID, or leave the field blank or enter NULL, Degreed logs it as an error and all updates to the content item are skipped during template processing. For articles and web pages which may not have a formal ContentID, you can enter any value to set as the ContentID.
URL	Yes for all content types except Books.	2000	The unique URL for the content. This field is required for all content types (except for Books) in order to accurately process the content in all subsequent template processing (i.e. Required Learning, Completions, etc.). IMPORTANT INFORMATION If designated as the unique ID (see the ContentID field description above), changing this value after the initial template upload creates a new content item instead of updating the existing one. Delete	Yes	255	When you enter Y as the value, the specified content item no longer displays in your Internal Catalog. Acceptable values include: Y The first time you upload a Course content item, you cannot use the value of Y, because a Course must first exist as an active Course before it can be marked for deletion. Title	Yes	255	The short title of the content item. This value is indexed for search and can be updated with subsequent template uploads.  Value cannot be Null.	Design Thinking for Business Innovation
Summary	No	2000	The user-facing description of the content item in Degreed. Degreed indexes this value for Search. Do not leave this field blank, as a NULL or blank value removes the summary from the content item. ImageURL	No	255	The URL that points to the image you want to display in the content item's content card, tile, search result, and content page. The image URL must be publicly accessible. If an image is behind a login page such as a SharePoint site, the image will fail to load within Degreed. If you do not enter a URL here, Degreed auto-associates a stock image for the content until you either: update this template with an image URL, upload an image through your Degreed site. If you do not include a value, a default duration is applied based on content type. Provider	No	255	The provider code (not the name) for the content provider. This field is typically left NULL: A NULL value imports the content into your internal organization catalog. If you include a value in this field, it must match an existing provider code configured for your organization. The provider code is required when updating content that is already linked to a content provider. If you’re unsure of the correct provider code, submit a Support Request. The Degreed Support Team can confirm the exact code to use. If the provider code is incorrect or not included when required, the update may create duplicate records in the database.	Pluralsight
CEU	No	-	A numeric value that indicates the number of credits a user can earn from the completion of the content. When you specify a value for this field, the user sees CEU Eligible on the content card. IMPORTANT INFORMATION The number of credits you enter here does not display on the content card because CEU (Continuing Education Units) requirements can change. When you enter a value, it triggers the CEU Eligible notification on the content card, and when a user clicks into the card, they can then look to the content source for the most up-to-date requirements.	2
Format	No	30	An optional, open-form text field you can use to further categorize your Content Types.	If the Content Type is Article, Format could be Journal or PDF. If the Content Type is Course, Format could be Accredited or Instructor-led Training. If the Content Type is Book, Format could be Ebook or Audiobook.
Publish Date	No	-	The date the content was created or published. Preferred date format is standard RFC 3339 (YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS-TIME ZONE) If you do not specify a time zone when entering a date, Degreed stores it in UTC. Primary Contact	No	255	The Primary Contact for the content item.  You can enter an individual user, or a group depending on the Primary Contact Type value. Topic1	No	255	Associates a Skill (formerly called Topics) to the content item. Acceptable values: Existing Skill Names new Skill Names NULL You can only associate one Skill per column. BEST PRACTICES You can add additional columns to the template and name them with a unique numerical identifier (for example, Topic2, Topic3, Topic4). When you upload or update users, the values you enter here can be associated to those users, and the content item displays as relevant content in their Feed. You can add as many Topic columns as you want, but once configured, the number of these columns cannot change, else the template may fail upon upload. Values for these additional columns can be NULL, which does not add the Skill to the user's content item.	Management
Group1	No	255	This optional field associates the content item to an existing Degreed Group. Groups help organize and distribute content, but are not required Use a single column with a comma (,) delimited list of all Group names (i.e., Group1,Group2) If an Admin group is listed in this field, the content item will be limited in visibility to only users in that Admin group. If an Admin group is listed along with other group types, it will override those groups and make the content only visible to the Admin group.
