You can search for content items including Plans and Pathways, Skills, people, Opportunities (if enabled on your site), and Groups.
Initiating a Search
When you click in the Search field, a drop down displays with options for performing a search when you are not quite sure what you're looking for, including a list of the skills you have on your Profile.
To use the Search Initiation feature
- Click in the Search field to display an expanded drop down.
- Select from the following options:

I'm looking for...: This section includes a link for each content type such as Pathways, Plans, People, Courses, Videos, etc. You can click one of the types to open the Search Results page with that Type filter applied to the results.
For example, if you click Plans under the "I'm looking for.." section, the Search Results page opens with only Plans returned in the list, and Plans selected in the Type filter. - Skills: This section includes a list of your skills. You can click a Skill to open the Search Results page with results related to the selected Skill.
- Go to Search Page: This link opens the Search Results page with an unfiltered and unspecified list of results.

I'm looking for...: This section includes a link for each content type such as Pathways, Plans, People, Courses, Videos, etc. You can click one of the types to open the Search Results page with that Type filter applied to the results.
Autocomplete Suggestions
When you begin typing in the Search field, a drop down displays with suggestions related to the search term. The suggestions are grouped into sections based on the item type such as Pathways and Plans, or People and Groups.
To use the Autocomplete feature
- Enter a search term in the Search field to display an expanded drop down with items related to the term.
- Select from one of the following options:
- Autocomplete Suggestions: Suggested terms display at the top of the drop down. You can click one of the suggestions to open the Search Results page with results based on that term.

Pathways and Plans: A Pathways and Plans section includes the top two related Pathways listed first, followed by the top two related Plans. You can click the Pathways and Plans heading to open the Search Results page filtered by the Pathways and Plans types.
Clicking a Pathway or Plan leaves Search and opens that Pathway or Plan.

Learning: A Learning section includes the top four content items related to the suggested search term. You can click the Learning heading to open the Search Results page with all content types selected in the Type filter, and applied to the list of results.
Clicking a content item in this section, opens the More Details modal for that content item as an overlay on top of the Search Results page.
You can open the content item to access the content, or you can close the More Details modal to continue searching on the Search Results page with the name of the content item automatically entered into the search field.
- People: A People section includes related members based on the search term entered. You can click the People heading to open the People tab of the Search page filtered by the entered term. Clicking a user's name opens the People tab on the Search page with a list of results related to the selected name.
- Groups: A Groups section includes the related Groups based on the search term entered.
- You can click the Group heading to open the Group tab of the Search page filtered by the entered search term. Clicking a Group's name opens the Groups tab on the Search page with a list of results related to the selected Group name.
- Opportunities: If your organization has Opportunities enabled, an Opportunities section includes the top four related Opportunities. You can click the Opportunities heading to open the Search page filtered by Opportunities. Clicking a specific opportunity option opens the Opportunity on the Search page under the Opportunities tab.
- Skills: A Skills section includes the top four related skills. You can click the Skills heading to open the Skills tab of the Search page. Clicking a specific skill opens the Skills tab on the Search page with a list of results related to the entered search term.

Use the following elements, if available, to refine your results.
Related Skills
After you enter a search term and perform the search, a list of skills related to the term displays at the top of the Search page on the Learning tab. You can click one of the skills to refine the search by that term. The skill you click replaces the term in the search field and the search is performed again, based on the selected term.
Search Tabs
Each tab at the top of the page includes results related to the search term. For example, if your search term is Leadership, the Learning tab includes content items related to leadership, and the Skills tab includes skills related to Leadership. If your search term is Communication, the People tab includes people in your organization who've added the Communication skill to their Profile.
Click one of the following tabs at the top of the page to refine your search.
- Learning: The Content tab includes content items added to your organization's catalog. You can search for external content items by clicking the External at the top of the page.
- Skills: The Skills tab lists your organization's skills that relate to the search term.
- People: The People tab includes people whose name matches part of the search term, or who have related skills added to their Profile.
- Groups: The Groups tab includes Groups whose name matches part of the search term.
- Opportunities: The Opportunities tab includes results that are related to the search term. Opportunities must be enabled for your organization to view this tab on the Search page.
Search Result Cards
The search results cards include information about the relevancy of the content and the actions users can perform.
- Informative content metadata such as the content format, cost, and difficulty level displays at the top of the search result card.
- Action buttons and icons such as View Details, Save for Later, and Mark Complete appear on the card.
View Details Modal
The View Details modal displays when the View Details button is selected on a search result card. The modal includes relevant information about the content such as an expanded description, associated skill tags, and access to action buttons.
- Additional metadata such as the provider, cost, and location (if applicable) displays beneath the content card image.
- An expanded description is available for the content item.
- Skill tags display directly on the card interface.
- Information about the number of users who've completed, liked, and shared the content is available towards the button of the card.
- Action buttons such as Mark Complete, Open [item], Share, Save for Later, and Add to... (Plan or Pathway) are available at the bottom of the card.
Search Filters
Use the filters on the left side of the search tabs, if available. Filters vary depending on the tab selected.
