Assignments Overview

Assignments are learning items that you are expected to complete.

What is the Difference between Assigned and Required Learning?

There are two types of assignments within Degreed:

• Assigned Learning - These types of assignments are assigned to you (or a group you are in) by another member within your organization that has the permissions to do so, such as your manager or a Group Admin.

  Example: Your manager reads an article on ways to innovate in your current field. She assigns it to you and recommends you complete the article by next Friday. She can track whether or not you have completed the article.

• Required Learning - These assignments come into Degreed from an external source and cannot be manually assigned or marked as completed from within Degreed. Your organization (or a 3rd party) may require you complete these assignments to maintain necessary company compliance policies or adhere to any relevant or mandatory requirements. These assignments can be organization-wide or specific to your job role. When the assignment is completed and verified on the external site, the associated content card is updated in Degreed and marked as complete.

  Example: Every member of your organization is required to complete a Preventing Workplace Harassment course to remain Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) compliant. You must have the course completed by the end of the month. This course is mandatory to continue employment at your organization.

To Access Your Assignments

You can access your assignments from the Assignments page. To access your assignments:

• On the Home page, in the navigation panel on the left-hand side, click Assignments.

To Assign Content in Degreed

You can easily assign content in Degreed to one or more learners, if enabled to do so.

You must have the Assign Content permission in Degreed to complete this task.

1. From your Home page, in the Feed, locate the content you want to assign.
2. On the content card, click .
   The Share this <Content Type> dialog box displays.
   
3. In the To field, enter the learner name(s).
4. Enter your Message about the assignment.
5. Click the Assign toggle.
   The Due by field displays.
   
6. Optionally, click the calendar to select a Due by date.
7. Click the Share with # people button.
   The assignment saves, and the learner is notified.

To Remove Assigned Learning

You can remove Assigned Learning content from your profile that another member assigned to you.

You cannot remove Required Learning assignments. Required Learning assignments come from external sources and cannot be manually assigned, marked as completed, or removed from within Degreed. Your organization or third-party platform requires you to complete these assignments to maintain necessary company compliance policies or adhere to any relevant and mandatory legal requirements. If you think a required assignment should be removed, please contact your organization's learning and development team.

Admins and/or managers are able to generate reports that indicate you dismissed a learning item assigned to you.

1. Click the Assignments option from the navigation panel on the Home page.
2. Locate the assignment you want to remove under the To Do tab.
3. Click the View Details link.
4. Click the Action Menu () icon for the appropriate Assignment row.
5. Click the Remove option.

The assignment is removed from your profile.
