You can add steps to Academy sections from the Overview tab of an academy.
To Add Steps to an Academy Section
- From the side navigation menu in Degreed Admin, select Catalog > Academies.
The Academies page displays. - Locate the academy you want to add steps to.
- Click the Actions menu (
) next to the Academy.
- Click Edit Academy.
The Setup page displays. - Click Overview from the left navigation menu of the Academy setup page.
- Click a section to open it.
- Click Add Step and select an option.
Catalog Content
Select this option to add content from your organization's catalog.
- Search for the content you want to add.
- Select the checkbox beside the content you want to add.
- Click Add to Section.
- To add requirements to the catalog content, click the step and then click the Requirements tab.
- Click + Add Requirement.

Under What step must be completed to access this?, choose one of the following options:

The previous step (if any): Select this to make completion of the immediately preceding step required before learners can access this one.

A specific previous step: Select this if you want to require completion of a particular earlier step. A dropdown menu appears if this option is selected. Select the step from the list.

(Optional) To remove a requirement, click Remove Requirement.
Project
Select this option to add projects.
- Enter the Project Name.
- In the Details tab, select a Submission Type.
- Enter a Description.
- Optionally, add an attachment.
- Optionally, you can add a requirement that a user must complete before completing the project, allow users to mark the step as skipped, or allow users to see projects submitted by their peers.
- Click the Due Date tab to configure the due date settings.
- Set Due Date: Choose the rule for setting due dates. For example, a specific number of days after the cohort start or end date.
- Number of Days: Enter the number of days for the system to use when calculating due dates. Weekend days are excluded from the calculation.

Calculated Due Date outside cohort dates: Check this option if you want the due date to fall outside the cohort’s start or end dates.
The table below the due date settings displays each cohort that includes this step, along with its start and end dates and the calculated due date based on your settings. Click the Actions menu beside a date to update or remove the due date.
- Click the Reminders tab to add an email reminder.
- Click + Add email reminder.

Select the reminder audience:

Send only to members who have not completed this step: Sends reminders only to those with the step still incomplete.

Send to all members: Sends to everyone, regardless of completion status.
The reminder email is automatically scheduled for 1 day before the due date.

In the Email Subject field, enter your subject line.

In the Email Body field, enter the content of your email message.

(Optional) To remove the reminder, click Remove Reminder next to the section title.

Discussion
Select this option to create a space for participants to discuss a specific prompt.
- Enter the Discussion Name.
- Enter a Description.
- Optionally, add an attachment.
- Optionally, you can allow users to mark the step as skipped.
- Click the Due Date tab to configure the due date settings.
- Set Due Date: Choose the rule for setting due dates. For example, a specific number of days after the cohort start or end date.
- Number of Days: Enter the number of days for the system to use when calculating due dates. Weekend days are excluded from the calculation.

Skill Rating
Select this option to allow learners to self-rate the skills associated with the Academy. Only skills added to the Academy can be selected for skill ratings. You can add skills to an Academy from the Overview tab. For more information, see Add Skills to an Academy. After a learner submits their rating, they cannot update the ratings within the Academy. While profile skill ratings can still be updated in Degreed, the ratings captured within the Academy stay the same, providing a clear snapshot of progress at that moment in time.
- Select a skill from the Skill field.
- Enter a Skill Rating Description.
- Optionally, add an attachment.
- Optionally, you can allow users to mark the step as skipped.
