SCORM Cloud
Overview
The Degreed SCORM Cloud integration allows you to migrate your courses from an LMS that supports SCORM, upload courses from an authoring tool, or deliver previously purchased, off-the-shelf content.
This integration allows you to import, launch, and track SCORM, xAPI, cmi5 and AICC courses and access built-in reporting. The SCORM Cloud integrated player is the most widely used, reliable player, on the market, guaranteeing that Degreed is able to consistently provide support for SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 (2nd, 3rd, 4th Editions), xAPI, cmi5, and AICC courses.
This allows Degreed to fulfill your course hosting needs and offer these courses in the Degreed library alongside other online learning tools including external courses, articles, videos, books, and events.
The following file types are supported with the SCORM Cloud integration:
-
SCORM: the most widely adopted standard for eLearning courses
-
xAPI: the newest standard, also known as Tin Can API or the Experience API
-
cmi5: a companion specification to xAPI
-
AICC: the earliest standard for page-turner courses

Preparing Your SCORM Package for Import into Degreed
- If you have SCORM courses from an existing LMS, export the SCORM package as a zip file using the export options on your LMS.
- If you want to create a new SCORM course that doesn’t already exist, there are several tools online for SCORM course development including: Articulate, Captivate, Camtasia, and Raptivity. SCORM is the most popular standard for building online courses, which means there are plenty of options for creating these types of online courses. Leverage an available tool for creating the course, then export the course to a zip file.
- All versions of SCORM are supported, including SCORM 1.2, and SCORM 2004 (all editions).
To Import a SCORM Course into Degreed
Once your SCORM zip file is available, you can begin importing the course into Degreed. SCORM Cloud courses must be added to the internal catalog first, then the courses can be discovered and added in Pathways and Plans.
- The course is already in progress and the user has not competed it.
- The user has never launched the course.
The course progress will still show as 100% complete for learners who have already completed the course. When learners launch a course they've already completed, the completed version is launched.
- In the top right corner of Degreed, click .
- Select Manage <your organization>.
Degreed Admin opens and the Insights page displays by default. - Click the Catalog tab.
The Manage Catalog page displays. - Click +Add Content.
The Content Type dialog box displays. - Select Course from the drop-down list.
The Add New Course dialog box displays. - Select SCORM Package.
- Locate the SCORM zip file you want to upload and drag and drop your SCORM zip file to the SCORM field.
Once the file upload completes, the course title auto-populates on the form based on data from the SCORM package. The Description and Number of hours must be added manually. - Optionally, you can add the Course Format, Description, Content Owner, and Published Date. The Course Format and Description helps learners find the course when searching. The description displays on the course details page.
- Enter the Number of hours you expect a user to spend to complete the course.
-
Enter the Skills you want to associate to the course.
The skills you add help to categorize your course and aid users in finding content relevant to their learning needs. -
Click Save Changes.
The content item saves to your Global Catalog and is indexed in the Search. Members of your organization can search on the course name, description, or categories assigned to the course. You can now add the course to a Pathway or Plan. For more information, see Add a Course to a Pathway.
Accessing and Managing SCORM Courses in Degreed
Learners can launch the course directly from Degreed, as no additional login for the course is required. The course opens in a new tab of their browser. SCORM cloud tracks the user’s progress on the course and completion. If a user leaves the course and returns, they will be placed back into the course where they previously left off.
Users who complete the course will automatically return to the Degreed home page and will see the course added to their learning profile. No additional steps are required to get credit for taking the course. Completed courses display in Degreed as "Verified Complete" within 24 hours. Verified completions appear in Degreed FTP Reports, while other data is stored in SCORM Cloud.

User Data
A user is registered in SCORM Cloud when they launch their first SCORM Cloud course. The Degreed system passes the learner ID and learner name to SCORM Cloud for reporting purposes. The learner ID is configurable to be the Degreed ID (default), Employee ID, or email. This information is used in the SCORM Cloud reports.
Anonymizing User Data
For enhanced security, and to protect user’s data, the learner ID can also be configured as Alias, in which case an auto-generated unique ID and false name are used to register the user in SCORM Cloud. This ensures SCORM Cloud does not have personally identifiable information about a customer’s employees. This may be a desirable option for EU organizations that want to keep all employee information in EU data centers.
If user data is anonymized, the SCORM Cloud completion reports will also be anonymized and will not contain employee-identifiable information. You will be able to see a count of total completions for courses, but will not be able to identify which employees have completed the course. The course will be marked as complete in the user’s Degreed profile.
SCORM Cloud Reporting
SCORM Cloud’s built-in reporting gives you an organized and visual way to make sense of all of the learner and course data that is captured. You can quickly see who has taken the training, when they took it, and the results. You can see this data overall, per course, or for an individual. See trends and outliers, and get information on learning effectiveness. You can access SCORM reports for your organization with the following URLs:
