Skill Review Endorsement
The endorsement step is an important stage of the Skill Review process. While completing a Skill Review, you can send a request to someone in your organization to endorse the responses and final Skill Review level.
For more information about the complete Skill Review process, see the Skill Review overview article.
Guidelines for Choosing a Skill Review Endorser
An endorser is someone that can validate and support your Skill Review responses and rating level number. Your endorser is someone that knows your abilities and has witnessed your experience and knowledge in the skill you are reviewing.
We recommend that you choose one of the following types of people to endorse your Skill Review as they have witnessed multiple instances of you using this skill:
- Your direct supervisor
- Mentors
- Current peers and coworkers
- Leaders and managers you have worked with on projects
Guidelines for Endorsing a Skill Review
The following are suggested guidelines to help Skill Review endorsers decide when to accept a Skill Review endorsement request, when to decline the request, and when to ask for more information:
- If you do not feel like you have sufficient experience evaluating the person's skill, you should decline the endorsement request and provide the reasons to the person about why you decided not to endorse their Skill Review.
- If you are confused or need additional details when you review a Skill Review response, request more detail in Step 3 in the endorsement process to clarify their response or responses.
- You can also provide the person details about why you agree or disagree with the Skill Review level number. This does not impact the level number, but it can inform the person if you think the level number should be higher or lower than they were given.
The Eight Point Skill Level
Degreed uses an eight-point scale to determine each user’s skill level for their Skill Ratings. For detailed descriptions of each skill level, see the Skill Levels Rating Descriptions article.
